Archival Corpus

The Nautical Museum of Galaxidi was established in 1979, and  one can find on dispaly a unique collection of paintings of Galaxidiot sailing ships, as well as nautical instruments, documents related to the sailing ships and wooden figureheads. Furthermore, the Museum houses an Archive put together by donations from the local shipping families. 

This archival collection contains sailing ships' logbooks and account books, captains' diplomas, ship registers for the port of Galaxidi, health documents et al. There is also a separate collection of documents related to a number mutual insurance companies that were established in Galaxidi in the late 19th century, such as lists of partners, insurance claims, newspapers clips on accidents and casualties, accounts etc.
