Archival collection history :

The Cambra de Comerç de Barcelona (in short) was founded in 1886 as the successor of precedent institutions as the Consolat de Mar and the Reial Junta Particular de Comerç. It preserves an interesting collection of documents related to shipping and maritime industries. The historical library was donated in 2001 to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona, and most of the collections of small printed sources could be consulted online, on the Memòria Digital de Catalunya.

This archive preserves files of different maritime topics (ports, shipping companies, associations) and documents of designated maritime Committees: Comisión de Navegación or Shipping Committee (1887-1910) and Comisión de Asuntos Marítimos or Maritime Affaires Committee (1912-1925 and 1925-1936)
