Archival Corpus

This collection is the result of the activity of the notary as commissioner of oaths in the private contractual sphere. Spanning across centuries, there are about 40,000 volumes for the districts of Barcelona and Badalona, while those of the General Archive gave a total sum of 80,000 volumes.  They occupy about 10,000 linear metres of shelving. The oldest full notarial register is from the thirteenth century and the latest from the twentieth century. The books of this collection are organized by notary, whose records are distributed in books chronologically. They include a wide variety of documents such as testaments, inventories of goods, sales, debt agreements, mortgages, establishment of companies etc.
