The Syrmas collection is composed of 13 folders and 2 boxes of records related to the service of Syrmas father and son, both captains of Greek-owned merchant ships from Andros, in the Greek shipping industry in the 19th and early 20th century. The collection includes correspondence between captain Anastasios Syrmas and its employers (shipowners), his wife and his son Theodoros. It also includes photographs, logbooks of the steamers captain Syrmas was in charge (SS Skylitzis, Leonidas and Adriana), as well as payrolls, and account books of the said steamships. Last, but not least, it contains some documents about the career of captain Syrmas, as well as a translated treatise of the use of the marine steam engine in Greek and notes on navigation.
