He was a scholar of British Scholarship Trust on UCL, School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies (May-July 2005). He participated in three research project headed by principal investigator Professor Mithad Kozličić: "History of Eastern Adriatic Seamanship", "Maritime History of the Croatian Part of Adriatic", and "The Development of Seamanship and Geographical Knowledge on the Croatian Adriatic".
His research interest lies in maritime history of the eastern Adriatic within the Austrian Empire (later Austro-Hungarian Monarchy) in the 19th and early 20th century. In the SeaLit project he is studying maritime transition from sail to steam in Dalmatia and how it impacted maritime merchant communities there. He is also in charge of the collection of data from the Annuario Marittimo periodical for the integration into a Digital Seafaring database.
