A very important book based on an extensive research on primary sources. It is very useful as a secondary source and as a guide on primary soutces too. It lacks a theoretical analysis, since ti is written by an officer of the Hellenic Navy, but still is a valuable contribution on multiple aspects of the Greek merchant marine, the ports and maritime communities and the seafarers before and during the War of Independence (1821-29).
