Maritime miscellany is a monthly naval journal of the Naval Department of the Russian Empire, published since March 1848 till nowadays. The publication of the journal contributed to the transformations in the Russian fleet: the transition from sailing to steam fleet, and the modernization of naval shipbuilding. It included topics on the dissemination of naval and technical knowledge in the fleet, comparative studies of the fleets of different countries, information about the navigation of ships and squadrons, publication of biographies of prominent figures of the Russian navy, and shipwrecks.
